Our 2008-2009 project included working with The Yellow Dot project.
We want the public to learn what plants they should put into their
gardens to feed the bees. Our goal is to save the bees from starvation!
This helps our valuable pollinators by increasing honeybee-friendly planting.
Go to http://www.yellowdotproject.org to find a list of plants good for Northern California honey bees.
![]() The girls took the sheets of yellow dots around to plants they knew were bee friendly. |
![]() It was fun to see how many plants they could put yellow dots on. |
![]() They labeled the plants and the signs. These are herbs. |

![]() Fruit trees needed those yellow dots! |
![]() Along with the yellow dots, they put up some posters to explain the project. |
![]() We also took a poster that told about our Liberty 4-H beekeeping project. |
![]() This tea plant is a favorite of bees so our leader bought two of them for her bees! |
|
![]() The 4-H children also showed the public the observation hive at the nursery. |

Support your local bees! Shop at nurseries that have marked their plants with these yellow dots. Tell your favorite nurseries about the yellow dot project if they don't know. |
